【声明】戦後80年を迎えて／[Statement] 80 Years After the World War II

　本日令和7年8月15日、終戦から80年を迎えました。すべての戦没者とご遺族の方々に最大の哀悼の意を捧げます。今日我々がこのように生きているのは、我が国の行く末を案じ戦われた方々の命と苦難の歴史があってのことです。衷心より、敬意と感謝の念を捧げるとともに、御霊安かれと心よりお祈り申し上げます。また、今なお原子爆弾や空襲に起因する後遺症により苦しんでいる方々に、心よりお見舞い申し上げます。

　戦後80年は「節目」と言われますが、そうではありません。たしかに、数としては区切りがよいかもしれません。しかし、戦争経験者があの日々を忘れることはありません。永遠に記憶に残り続けるものなのです。

　この惨劇を繰り返しては、繰り返させてはなりません。我々は、戦闘のない、平和な世の中を目指し、我が国が再び開戦国となることのないよう、一組織、一国民として、日本国を正しい方向へ導くことを誓います。また、日本国政府に対し、我が国が近隣諸国及び世界から攻撃を受け、再び戦場とならないよう、国防力を上げることを求めます。我が国の領域と国民を守ることが、政府の責務であります。

　今般、社会情勢は刻一刻と変化しています。ロシア連邦によるウクライナ侵略は全面戦闘開始から3年半近く経過した現在も続いています。イスラム組織ハマスによるイスラエル攻撃、それに対するイスラエルによるパレスチナ・ガザ地区への報復、これも終結が見込めません。東アジアにおいては中華人民共和国が力による一方的な現状変更を企み続けています。このように、枚挙にいとまがありません。

　目まぐるしく変動していくこのような情勢の中、現代に生きる我々は生きぬかなければなりません。我々が生きぬくには当然我々の努力も必要ですが、国家の指導者に対し、平和の形成を促さなければなりません。戦闘を仕掛けている、もしくは武力を弄んでいる国家・組織に対し、それを止めるよう圧力をかけていく必要があります。我々は、すべての国・地域の首長に、即時の停戦と戦闘地域の原状回復への働きかけ、復興の援助を求めます。

　最後になりますが、現在戦闘の被害に遭われているすべての方々にお見舞い申し上げます。そして、世界に一刻も早く平和が訪れますよう、心からお祈り申し上げます。

　Today, 15 August 2025, marks the 80th year since the end of the Second World War. We offer our deepest condolences to all those who lost their lives in the war and their families. The fact that we are able to live as we do today is thanks to the sacrifices and hardships endured by those who fought for the future of our country. We offer our heartfelt respect and gratitude, and pray from the bottom of our hearts for the repose of their souls. We also extend our heartfelt sympathy to those who continue to suffer from the aftereffects of atomic bombs and air raids. The 80th anniversary of the end of the war is often referred to as a ‘milestone,’ but it is not. While it may be a convenient numerical milestone, those who experienced the war will never forget those days. They will remain forever etched in their memories.

We must not repeat this tragedy, nor allow it to be repeated. We pledge to guide Japan in the right direction as an organisation and as a nation, aiming for a peaceful world without combat and ensuring that our country never again becomes a nation to start a war. We also urge the Japanese government to strengthen its national defence capabilities to prevent our country from being attacked by neighbouring countries and the world and becoming a battlefield again. It is the government's responsibility to protect our country's territory and citizens.

At present, the social situation is changing rapidly. The Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine continues even now, nearly three and a half years after the start of full-scale combat. The attacks on Israel by the Islamic organisation Hamas and Israel's retaliation against the Palestinian Gaza Strip also show no signs of ending. In East Asia, the People's Republic of China continues to attempt to unilaterally change the status quo by force. There are countless other examples.

In the midst of such rapidly changing circumstances, we who live in the modern age must survive. While our own efforts are certainly necessary for our survival, we must also urge national leaders to promote peace. We must exert pressure on nations and organisations that are initiating combat or wielding military force to cease such actions. We call upon the leaders of all nations and regions to immediately cease hostilities, restore the status quo in combat zones, and provide assistance for reconstruction.

Finally, we extend our deepest condolences to all those currently suffering from the effects of combat. We sincerely pray that peace may come to the world as soon as possible.
